The Background

Bringing Related Looms to Confluence Pages

During an internal Atlassian hackathon, I explored how to surface related Loom videos directly on Confluence pages, bringing video knowledge into the flow of work without searching or context-switching.

The Approach

Building Fletch into Confluence

Since this was a hackathon project, we had limited time to bring our vision to life. We built Fletch — a companion bot embedded in Confluence — that takes the content of the page a user is reading, uses it as context to fetch related Loom videos, and surfaces them directly on the page with a quick overview of what was found.

Learnings

Key Takeaways

  1. Ground the problem in real research — validating the problem with data early on made it easier to communicate business value and get buy-in, helping us place 2nd overall!

  2. Align with engineering early — with limited hackathon time, working closely with engineers on feasibility shaped what the solution could realistically look and function like
